Dinner last night was something special. Our hosts at our BnB provided dinner which was very unique! We had a “Raclette” which is a bit similar to a fondue except you melt the cheese over a burner in a little pan and then pour it on bread, potatoes and/or sausage/ham.

Everything at this dinner was locally sourced. The cheese was made by a fellow who lives and works about 300 meters from the BnB and was trained by a Swiss cheese maker. The milk (raw) for the cheese was provided by a neighbouring cow. It was very delicious!

The smoked ham and sausage, thinly sliced, was from a town we had cycled through earlier that day, Montenau, where there was a huge processing plant. This ham is well known throughout Belgium.

As you can imagine, breakfast was equally as special and included home made yogurt and scrambled eggs with bacon!

So now it was time to hit the trail and work off all that food! It was shaping up to be another very warm and sunny day!

Back to the Rur River…

Our last day on the Vennbahn in perfect weather!
