After 3 lovely days in Cologne, it’s time to hop on the German DeutscheBahn and on to our friends Toni and Lisa in Gladbeck. We are on a high speed train most of the way but we’re a bit concerned about making our connection in Essen, and rightly so, as our train is running a bit behind schedule. When we get to our changeover there is a bit of confusion as our expected train the S9 disappears off the digital screen at the platform! Luckily, the agents on the platform speak some English and they point us to another platform to get on a different train to our destination. It eventually all comes together but not without some angst!
