First, pour the cement to create the basement (only 4ft high) and 24 feet by 40 feet. (Sorry you may want to convert to metres)

Once the floorboards are secured, you can start to construct/ put together the timbers (posts and beams) laying flat on the floor which have all been cut and notched at another location and brought to the site. These sections are called ‘ bents’. Our house has 8 bents on each floor (2 floors)=16 bents. The top floor bents are 2 feet wider so you get a cantilever on one side of the house.

The timbers are brought to the site and assembled on the floor, one on top of the other. Then we had crane come and lift them into place while some of the the crew held them up with ropes and others attached the cross beams. It took 2 days for this process.

It is traditional to attach a fir branch at the very top when the structure is completed.

4 ft by 8 feet panels with drywall on one side and OSB board on the other with 4 inches of foam insulation sandwiched in between were nailed with long spikes onto the outside of the frame after the openings for the windows and doors were cut in them.
