Well it really doesn’t get any better than a 20C mixed sun/cloudy day with a Beaufort 4 strong breeze pushing you along the Maas River LF fietspad. Wish I had a sail to put up….but no, then I would have been going way too fast! Hardly having to pedal, and I have to say some of the most beautiful sections of the Maas yet! Very wide in places with islands and peninsulas and lots of bird life. Even saw a couple of swimming cows!

And then…the smallest Curch in Leut, Belgium…

And of course, the windsurfers and kite boarders (some were catching major air,)

and even a few sailboats were out in full force!

One of the most beautiful towns in the Netherlands is the white village of Thorn. This charming village in the southernmost province of Limburg has a historic centre filled with cobblestoned streets and whitewashed houses, creating a charming sight and officially protected cityscape. Strolling around the village is the best way to explore Thorn and enjoy the picturesque streets. You’ll quickly notice how different this village is from all the other Dutch villages, known for their typical red-brick buildings and canal houses. The white village has tons of historical monuments, cute chapels, white buildings and picturesque streets.

And this sculpted piece of rose quartz…

It is dark, windy and raining as I write this tonight…but we are warm and dry in our lovely little garden cottage of our Vrienden op de Fiets, Carolein in Beegden. We did stay here before we headed up the Rur River, and it sort of feels like coming home!
