Word of the day: gesloten = closed

Today is Sunday and one must be prepared because it is nothing like Canada here. Everything is ‘gesloten’…all the shops, and even most restaurants! The town centres are dead quiet! So good luck feeding yourself if you didn’t buy groceries on Saturday!

Thank goodness our B&B hostess fed us a huge breakfast which kept us going most of the day…and we even had a few things for a picnic snack at another lovely Vandenberg ‘Kasteel’.



Today’s ride took us from Bunschoten-Spakenburg to Putten along a channel of the sea below a large island where there are a few very popular beaches and the parking lots were jammed with cars. It was also a busy day on the bike paths with all manner of bicycles….high speed road cyclists, scooters, e-bikes, 3-wheelers, wheelchairs, bikes with trailers pulling dogs and parents with ‘wheelbarrow’ bikes with kids in them. Everyone was getting out to enjoy the sunshine!
