Our departure from our B&B was pretty smooth. We cycled to Jaap and Simone’s first to say our good-byes and have a last cup of Java and photo ops with them, as is our tradition!

Riding through the fields of purple Heather was beautiful today!

We changed our route somewhat as because of the heat (+30C)🥵we thought we would try a trail through the trees. It worked out very well as we stumbled upon a gorgeous ‘castle’ surrounded by a nature reserve (Kasteel Groenveld).

We crossed the river Eems via a bridge instead of a ferry and had a bit of breeze as we cycled along the dyke beside the river…lots of boaters and kids swimming and playing in the water.
We easily found our B&B right at the Spakenburg Yacht Club where Els, our hostess greeted us. After hauling our bear up this spiral staircase, a cooling off shower and a snack, we are taking a break….😴

This is the view out our window!
Just finished a delicious dinner of Indonesian specialities that we picked up in town. It was great to stretch the legs with a walk, check out all the uniquely Dutch boats and watch the pink and blues change in the sky as the sun set. Good night!

Today’s route…note that all the red/ green lines on the map are dedicated bicycle paths! So many options!
