After a lovely stay at the Chateau, including some of the best coffee of the trip so far, it’s time to hit the trail. Everything is pretty easy here on the Moselle as there is fairly good signage along the way. The bicycle path is mostly smooth pavement or concrete and it follows the river or the canal which parallel each other and it weaves back and forth. There are many locks along the canal and we have seen very long barges passing through. Today we passed some taking on what looked like coal or gravel at various industrial sites On the shore opposite from our route which is through forests, fields and

nature preserves. We have seen so much bird life, including many hawks hovering above us looking for prey in the fields!
